How to Edit Your Story Draft ✏️

Learn how to edit your story draft on Nookly — update the title, rewrite page text, reorder pages, and add new ones before generating your final story.

Written by Malak Abdelghaffar

Once Nookly generates your story draft, you're in full control before anything is finalized. Here's everything you can do on the story draft screen.

✏️ Turn on edit mode

By default, the draft is in preview mode. To start making changes, click the pencil icon in the top right of the screen. This switches you into edit mode, where all pages become editable and reorderable.

📝 Edit the story title

In edit mode, the story title becomes a text field at the top of the screen that you can edit if you would like to change the title. Click into it, make your changes, then click the checkmark to save the new title.

💬 Edit page text

Each page of the story appears as a card with a number. In edit mode, tap any card to start editing the text directly. The text on each page is what guides the illustrations — so the more vivid and specific you make it, the better the images will be.

🔀 Reorder pages

Want to change the flow of the story? In edit mode, you can drag and drop any card to move it to a different position. The page numbers will update automatically to reflect the new order.

➕ Add a new page

Need an extra moment in the story? Scroll to the end of the draft and click "+ Click to add a page here". A new blank card will appear where you can write your own text from scratch. Once added, you can drag it anywhere in the story to place it exactly where it fits.

💡 Tip: The text on each page directly shapes what the illustrations will look like. If a scene feels off after your story is generated, go back to the draft, refine the page text or regenerate to change it up.
