How to Regenerate or Change Your Story Draft

Learn how to revise your story draft with specific tweaks or regenerate a completely fresh version using Nookly's Fresh version feature.

Written by Malak Abdelghaffar

Not feeling the current draft? No problem. Nookly makes it easy to tweak or completely refresh your story at any point before you finalize it.

πŸ”„ Step 1: Click "Fresh version"

On the story draft screen, you'll find a Fresh version button in the top right corner, next to the pencil icon. Click it to open the Change your story panel.

You have two options:

✏️ Option 1: Revise draft

Choose Revise draft if you like the general direction but want to make specific changes β€” without starting from scratch.

Type exactly what you'd like Nookly to change in the text box. Be as specific or broad as you like. For example:

  • "Add a dragon companion"

  • "Change the setting to space"

  • "Make it funnier"

Nookly will use your current draft as the base and apply your instructions to create a revised version. You have up to 500 characters to describe your changes.

✨ Option 2: Start fresh

Choose Start fresh if you'd rather generate something completely new from the ground up.

Before regenerating, pick a story pace:

  • Snappy β€” Shorter pages. Easier page turns. Great for younger kids or shorter attention spans.

  • Balanced ⭐ Recommended β€” A classic picture-book rhythm. The sweet spot for most ages.

  • More story β€” Longer pages with more detail. Ideal for kids who want a richer read.

Once you've picked your pace, click Create draft and Nookly will generate a brand new version of the story.

πŸ’‘ Tip: You can regenerate as many times as you like before moving forward. Don't be afraid to keep going until it feels just right.
